Our Osteopathic Manual Practitioners focus on identifying the root cause of your health issues, rather than merely treating the symptoms.

Ali Osteopathy

Safe and effective form of preventative medicine

In the United Kingdom, Osteopaths undergo comprehensive training and are registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOSC). The GOSC plays a crucial role in ensuring effective treatment and patient safety by establishing and upholding rigorous standards for osteopathic practice and professional conduct.

Osteopathy is recognised as a safe and effective form of preventative medicine that focuses on total body health by treating and maximising the function of the musculoskeletal system. This can then positively influence other body systems like the respiratory, nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems.

Osteopathy works on the biomechanics of the patient and how well muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue function as a unit.

Common causes include postural imbalance from work and hobbies, psychological or physical trauma, aging, arthritis, surgery, childbirth, hypermobility and inactivity. Osteopaths are trained to diagnose and provide management through treatment to improve the patients well being.

I can be found in three locations in the South West area, in Bristol, Wells Road, Bedminster Down and Taunton.

What to expect

We’ll go through your main complaint, try to take some details of any other complaints but focus priority to the most pressing complaint. Once satisfied with the information,  we’ll move on to your previous and current medical history which can include medication, previous operations or injuries.

The area and nearby tissues will be examined through active and passive movements, Orthopedic testing and palpated to gather information such as temperature changes, swelling, tension or tender  muscles and joints. Wearing sports clothing or shorts and a vest help to see the area affected such as brusing, deformity, swelling or redness.

If it is a musculoskeletal concern then the diagnosis will be explained and you’ll get some treatment and self care advice. Even if your complaint is outside of the remit of osteopathy, patients will be pointed in the right direction.

Osteopathy is a predominantly hands on approach although some taping and medical acupuncture can be used if deemed beneficial.
